V0847
An extremely rare Sevres porcelain vase dated 1894. The largely blue ground has peacock-like flashes of cerise and green.
While Sevres and Berlin were almost simultaneously the European porcelain houses whose chemists were first to master Chinese type high temperature flambé glazes, this is the only example in my experience to directly imitate actual Chinese flambé pieces, down to the thickness of glaze and deliberately chipped effect to bottom edge.
H 28cm x W 26cm (There is one carefully reattached chip to the rim)
