A superb pair of George IV pale patinated bronze cluster column oil lamps. These lamps are fully attributable to Thomas Messenger, initially of Birmingham and later London.
They would have originally been topped with colza oil burners of sinumbra annular form, but later converted to kerosene with cut glass reservoirs.
They each have four Tuscan columns clustered on a square base with pierced panels in Gothick taste raised on feet of four winged and horned creatures of known Messenger model c.1820s
