A fine Empire period Semmesanto marble topped walnut console table with carved giltwood details.

 

Semmesanto is a rare marble quarried by the Romans from the Greek island of Skyros used in Pietra Dura of the Renaissance period including The Great Beckford table at Charlecote Park. The present top probably taken from a large ancient fragment.
