An extremely rare, fine and elegant George III darkly patinated and fluted column lamp with fine ormolu interlocking serpent detail, extremely unusual ruined antique capitals in the manner of Giambattista Piranesi and subtly tapering plinth. This very special early argand lamp base is attributable to the King's clockmaker and bronzier Benjamin Vulliamy, who was the very exclusive supplier of the finest bronze items made in England to both George III, George IV and their families.
